Upcoming Announcements and Logo Usage

August 24th, 2009

Whew!

I apologize things have been so quiet on the blog. It’s the result of a blizzard of activity happening here in the office. With the August 15 deadline passing, the activity has only increased and it looks like it will get busier with only a month to go before Opening Day on Sept 23.

What have we been working on? We’re in the final stages of nailing down a bunch of things many of you have been asking about: Voter Registration Sites and Events being at the top of the list. We’re planning on making those announcements later this week.

I know many venues, artists and local businesses are trying to plan events and print promotional materials. There are two things you should know about as you’re preparing those materials.

LOGO USAGE
There are two pieces ArtPrize provides for people preparing promotional materials for their own events:

1) The wordmark:

2) ArtPrize “Seals” (for artists, venues, sponsors and registration sites):

Artists/Venues can download the seal from your “You” page on artprize.org.

The ArtPrize logo (Orange image above the Capital A) is NOT intended for general use:

We know it’s out there, but we request to please avoid using it, if possible. (Don’t worry about printing all new postcards promoting yourself,  if they’re already done.) Why? It’s the only mark we have to designate official ArtPrize events and materials, like the Opening Night event or Official Program Guide.

NEIGHBORHOOD DAYS

The ArtPrize District will be divided up into five neighborhoods (details coming soon) and we’ll have days for those neighborhoods to organize around. DO NOT WORRY if you planned something that’s not on your neighborhood day. It’s just a way to help people, say, on the Westside pick a day for parties, receptions, special deals at restaurants, et cetera when they’re concerned that their event may conflict with some other big event they don’t know about happening on the other side of town. That announcement is coming soon.

Stay tuned!

    Hey AP Staff!

I’m getting really excited for everything and I can’t wait. Thanks for all your hard work in keeping things smooth. My venue and I have been working on marketing and finalizing details on our “reception” and it only makes me even more excited!

This is an amazing opportunity for so many to be seen, regardless of the style, location, or method of arrival. The message that we have the ability communicate, we being big fish or little fish, is all in part to what ArtPrize is giving us the opportunity to project.

Thank you AP! Keep you head up, and keep doing everything you are doing – this opportunity otherwise would not have ever been.

  2. I have a question about voting. Once the ten finalists are announced, does the count start over at zero for those ten artists, or do the finalists keep their previous votes? Personally, I think the vote count should start over at zero once the finalists are announced since the artist pool changes. Please let me know.

  3. Paul Moore says:

    Hi Aaron,
My understanding is that the vote tally would go back to zero for the top 10, but I cannot say that with certainty since the voting mechanism is still under construction.

  4. Tommy Allen says:

Now you tell me not to use the ArtPrize logo after I had it tattooed on my forehead.

While my plastic surgeon says he can laser off both items for a couple thousand, I can only afford to remove the “A.”

I guess I will have to be content to look like Gorbachev’s offspring.

  5. David Huang says:

I have a question that seems related to this entry. I’m planning to produce some printed promotional material and thus need to start doing it really soon. What I want to know is how voters will be finding the artists to vote for on the Artprize website. Will each artist be issued a number? Will it be based on the title of the artwork entered? Will it be by the artist’s name? It would be really helpful for my printed material to say vote for piece #621 (or whatever # it would be), or vote for “Enlightenment”, or vote for David Huang. Could you let us know what’s going to happen with this? Time is running short!!

    Thanks.

  6. Please help…
I see that some artists have the logo with their
name on it…I want to know where, when, how can I …
as a participating, my venue is at the MVP Metro Club
… how to obtain a logo with my name on it?

    Lori

  7. David Huang says:

I got one from the ArtPrize facebook page. I don’t know if there are other places/ways to get it.

  8. Ian says:

    Hi Lori,

We are making artist badges for artists on the ArtPrize Facebook fan page. The badges are sorted by the relative date that the artist connected with their venue. I’d suggest going through the albums here: http://www.facebook.com/ArtPrize#/ArtPrize?v=photos&viewas=15302222

You should find your badge there. Note: we are still working on the last batch of badges, so if you do not see your badge it is being worked on and it will be available in short order.

  9. Gabriela Amaya-Baron says:

    Ian,

I found my badge on the Facebook page, but it only has my last name on it. How can we remedy this?

  10. James VanderMolen says:

Ian: It is September 12 – nearly 2 weeks since your last badge update – and my badge is still not posted, even though I registered early. Please advise.

Paul: there is no downloadable PDF of the artist seal on my “You” page. Am I alone, or is this true for everyone? It’s getting awfully close to the event, and I’d like to use the seal on press releases and mailers.

  11. James VanderMolen says:

Paul – my bad. I found the seal download.
