I have pre-registered, activated my registry at the Old Federal Building and have activated my e-mail and password and still am unable to vote on line.
I'll try to vote here for my top 10 favorite...John Douglas Powers "Field of Reeds." Artprize is great but I wonder how fair it is to award a prize based on the democratic concept of an open vote when it's obvious many votes are not being counted. It's like Florida all over again. I still had fun though and the art was incredible.

It was explained earlier that registration in Grand Rapids with photo ID was to make sure art work was viewed and voting was not a popularity contest. However, if an artist from out of Michigan or USA submitted work it would be impossible for them to receive the same "fair" and "honest" votes that people from Grand Rapids and surrounding areas receive. So the top ten will undoubtably be from the Grand Rapids area and leave some fantastic artists and works in the cold. Perhaps a judging panel should also be in the final determination of whose works should be in top ten and not just "popularity" or "area saturation voters". Great event though but definately needs some work on the voting process. Plan to attend if event comes back next year and would like to see "kinks" worked out to be more fair to all art work submitted.

ArtPrize is a wonderful event and I'd like to see it become a permanently annual event in Grand Rapids. The city has come alive! What fun! And some of the art is truly exceptional. I was wrong about the complexity of the voting system being a deterrent. It is not that complex after all. However, the voting sysyem is unfortunately invalid. It's as if a judge only looks at some of the pieces and not all. The farther you get from town center, the fewer the viewers. How to make it more valid? Maybe have all the entries in a huge warehouse. The giant sculptures could surround the bldg. I don't know if this would be possible but the current system is unfair, particularly to those from other countries who put their hearts and souls into their work, spent a small fortune to get here, and had know idea that the BOB or Monroe Center would be the most populated spots. I only hope that 10 truly talented artists that have produced 10 truly worthy pieces will be the persons that will win the competition. I'm afraid, however, that sheer luck is going to be a strong deciding factor.

I totally agree with Jorge Santos & Catie Dreher. If you have actually followed this from the begin like I have, you would see that everyone or a high percentage of the top 100 already listed have had alot of tv news promotion of some kind, to be totally fair and honist the tv media should never have individualized any of the artist. What of the other 1200 artist? Where is their individual supported new coverage. Open and honist and fair contest,,, I THINK NOT. If your going to news cast one then you news cast all.

A wonderful event and thrilling to see so many people take interest. I am bothered by your posting of the Top 25, 50, 100 though. Don't you think it likely that the most visible or publicized pieces already have an advantage and by posting top numbers more people will search out those pieces and vote for them, thereby skewing the fairness even more? It's like a directed verdict.....
