Brian Kelly at ArtPrize: Opening Montage
Brian Kelly is a photographer and filmmaker living in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Based on the video journal he made during 2009, ArtPrize® invited Brian to share his videos on our blog during the 2010 event. He’ll walk around and document what interests him as a filmmaker. Brian’s thoughts and opinions are his own and in no way represent an endorsement or objection from ArtPrize toward an individual artist or venue.

Brian – great video! The art at the GR public museum looks awesome – you definitely shot a wide variety which is great!! Excited to spend my next 10 or so lunch breaks checking it all out
Great stuff Brian (as usual!)
I was really liking it until the photographer himself had to get his mug in the vid, as if his name at the beginning wasn’t enough? It’s about ArPrize, Brian Kelly, not you.
[...] numerous happenings all over the city. Before we get into that, however, here’s a great Opening Montage by filmmaker Brian Kelly that we came across this [...]
Thanks Brian …this is great!!! Wish I could be there…but you are making it possible.
Bobe
Hi Jake, I get where you’re coming from about my mug, ha! But a video-log (or any blog from that matter) is really about the experiences and perspectives of the author, so unfortunately you might be seeing a bit more of my mug. If you choose not to watch my videos about ArtPrize I can’t really say I blame you
Well done, Brian! You do a great job of capturing the spirit of ArtPrize at specific moments…This preview leaves me wanting to see every inch of art!!!
You’re such a rock star… go Brian!
Hey Brian,
Very nice combination of simple cut moves to the music combined with some very nice shots and angles and movement, even a bit of time lapse or speed up. Nicely done video. Can you editor guess how many hours he had into editing that once all the raw footage was digital on the drives and ready to rock and roll? Just curious. I know the shooting took a lot of time, but the editing is what I’m trying to determine for other things I’m working on. What size computer memory and processors did the editing tower have, what type of file did you render it as? HD? what dimensions. You do a great job, and your crew and I always enjoy watching your stuff or looking at it as it has never failed me by coming up as trash. You make no trash ever, or at least you don’t let anyone see any of it! Good job again. Keep it up rock star.
